Organic Thoughts: What do I do with them?

Being in the PKM space and a user of the zettelkasten, we all understand how to create notes from things that you have read and noted what you found interesting. However, thoughts do not happen just while reading. They will happen organically as well. What do we do with those notes? I realised that I needed a way to record the fleshed out thoughts I had, knew there would be a source, but hadn’t sourced it yet. As part of my system I already have zombies for dot pointed notes and unicorns for fleshed out notes.

The answer I realised was to create a new type of note that sat within my system: Rabbits.

Rabbit notes are Unicorn Notes but they need a source — aka I need to go down a rabbit hole when I have more time to find a source that supports my note.

As a writer, I get a lot of thoughts and don’t always have the time to go find a source that supports my thinking. As a writer, I also do not want to miss out on the brilliance of my brain just because I don’t have a source to link at the time I think that thing.

I have created a 2 pronged integration depending on whether I am in front of my laptop or on the go with these notes:
